Football Programmes and events, as part of the local school curriculum play a big role in the Gibraltar FA’s Grassroots programme.
Qualified coaches visit local Schools to offer them bespoke coaching sessions, for their pupils, during their Physical Education lessons as well as organising, in conjunction with the Department of Education, football themed fun days where all pupils are encouraged to join in fun, pressure free, football activities.
The GFA’s Grassroots Department also organises annual Inter School (Middle School) competitions, for boys and girls, which are always very well attended and keenly contested.
The annual GFA Grassroots Interschool Tournament is always a very well attended event in which youngsters proudly wear their school colours ably supported by their teachers.
The tournament is held for both boys and girls and usually takes place before the Easter Holidays.
The 2018 version was no different!
Fun themed football fundays in schools have proved to be extremely popular events in which Gibraltar FA Qualified Coaches, led by the GFA's Grassroots Manager, along with school teachers deliver a full day of football sessions for all of the particular school's pupils.
All children are encouraged to take part with the emphasis being on enjoying the football sessions, in a pressure free interactive enviromnent as well as doing some basic physical activity.
