Gibraltar v Greece at the Estadio do Algarve

The Gibraltar FA can confirm that Gibraltar’s first ever World Cup Qualifier will be played at the Estadio do Algarve in Faro, Portugal. The match against Greece takes place on the 6th September 2016 and kicks off at 19:45 (Portuguese time) 20:45 (Gibraltar time).

All tickets are priced at €10 on sale in the next few days for this historic first World Cup Qualifier, and can be purchased online (as per our previous European Qualifiers in the Estadio do Algarve) using the following link:

The GFA recognises and whole heartedly appreciates the efforts that have to be made by Gibraltarian football fans, and followers of Gibraltar’s National team, to travel to the Algarve to watch its competitive international matches. As soon as the GFA was admitted as FIFA’s 211th member, in May 2016, the GFA has been in negotiations with and working together with UEFA towards obtaining a special exemption to be able to use the Victoria Stadium.

Unfortunately, due to the timing of the first home World Cup Qualifier against Greece, (6th September) it is not possible to play this match at the Victoria Stadium due to the Gibraltar Music Festival.

An announcement will be made as soon as possible on the venue for our second home fixture against Belgium in October 2016.
