e-Sports First Division - Matchday Four Highlights

It’s all change at the top of the table as Lions stormed into first place after a 0-4 victory against league leaders Glacis. Despite only one game ending in a draw, Matchday 4 saw some evenly matched ties and not to mention, lots of goals!

Here’s the lowdown on all the action..

Gibraltar United eSport 2-2 Gibraltar Phoenix FC eSports

An evenly balanced match from the get-go, ended honours even as neither side could make the vital breakthrough. Gibraltar Phoenix flew out the traps early on and went ahead within the first 5 minutes. After maintaining a one goal advantage for the majority of the game, Gibraltar so desperately needed that elusive third goal to give themselves some breathing space as the clock ticked down. However, Phoenix weren’t finished yet and bagged a late, late equalizer to end the game 2-2.

Glacis United eSports 0-4 Lions Gibraltar FC eSports

St. Joseph’s FC eSports 3-1 Lincoln Red Imps FC eSports

St. Joseph’s positive response to the away side’s equalizer early in the second half gave them the momentum to take home all three points. The home side managed to hit the back of the net twice within 15 minutes of Lincoln’s leveler. St. Joseph’s determination and strength made it difficult for Lincoln to really get back in the game who almost seemed to concede defeat after the third went in.

Manchester 62 FC eSports 2-1 Lynx FC eSports

The team sitting rock bottom of the table failed to get any points on the board after succumbing to a late equaliser from Manchester 62. It seemed nothing went Lynx’s way as a missed penalty quickly turned into a clinical counter attack from the opposition. Taking full advantage of the opportunity, Manchester grabbed their second and held on for the last ten minutes to secure the victory.

Goals: WIJNALDUM (12'; 1-0); Andresinho (36'; 1-1); B. Firmino (79'; 2-1)

Mons Calpe SC eSports 3-1 Europa FC eSports

The away side could only manage a consolation goal late in the game and will seriously need to up their game if they want to be taken seriously as title contenders. Europa were lucky to escape with only a two goal difference as Mons Calpe dominated the game throughout and created plenty of chances to reflect their time on the ball.
