Gibraltar 0-0 Liechtenstein

International Football returned to Gibraltar on Wednesday with Liechtenstein the visitors to the Victoria Stadium, in the first of the March 2016 "Homecoming" double header.

Gibraltar Head Coach Jeff Wood handed 17 year old Jayce Olivero his International debut, with Joseph Chipolina moving into midfield ans Kyle Casciaro joined up front by George Cabrera in the absence of talisman Lee Casciaro through injury.

official match team sheet.

Both teams canceled each-other out with Aaron Payas in the holding midfield role for Gibraltar providing the stability to allow the influential Walker to impose himself more and more on the game as time went on.

A shot wide of the post from Joseph Chipolina and a stunning 30 yard volley from Payas which drew a great save from the Liechtenstein 'keeper were Gibraltar's first half highlights, in which Liechtenstein had a goal ruled out for an infringement in the wall.

In the second half both teams made changes. For Gibraltar Sergeant, Bosio, Guiling and Barnett replaced Bardon, Olivero, K.Casciaro and Roy Chipolina respectively. Robert Montovio also replaced Cabrera up front in to make his International debut after an impressive domestic season so far.

Gibraltar remained solid for the duration of the second half - something which no doubt will please the Coaching staff given recent tendencies throughout the European Qualifiers and neither team could force a breakthrough meaning the game finished 0-0.

None the less an impressive result, back on home soil for Gibraltar. It's the third draw to add to the one win notched up already in less than three years of playing International football.
