Europa FC win the Gibtelecom Rock Cup

Europa FC added the Gibtelecom Rock Cup, this evening, to the Gibraltar First Division and the Pepe Reyes Cup to complete a clean sweep of domestic silverwear and a historic treble for the green and blacks.

A 3-0 victory over Lincoln Red Imps in a feisty Gibtelecom Rock Cup final finished off an extremely successful season for Juanjo Gallardo's men.

Lincoln Red Imps were on the back foot right from when centre back Bernardo Lopes saw red for bringing down Europa number 9 'Kike' Gomez early in the first half.

Rivas Rodrigues gave Europa the lead heading in a Liam Walker corner just before the half hour.

Lincoln Captain Roy Chipolina had an excellent chance to immediately level the scores but headed wide from close range.

With 'Kike' proving a live wire up front, that combination of Walker and Rivas Rodrigues almost doubled Europa's lead just before half time, once again from a corner kick.

Ryan Casciaro replaced Antonio Calderon for Lincoln at half time in an attempt to beef things up for Lincoln after the dismissal of Lopes, but it was only a sublime save from keeper Navas that kept 'Kike' out just after the restart.

But he was not to be denied, an imposing run and delicate cut back from Mustapha Yahyaya found 'Kike' who slotted Europa's second past Navas.

Liam Walker then fired a feeekick wide before probably the goal of the night. 'Kike' again this time picking the bal up on the endge of the Lincoln penalty area, cut inside and curled a sublime left footed shot past the helpless Navas. 3-0 to Europa.

Lincoln did attempt to mount a come back but the man advantage was proving too much. Substitute Tulio Etchemaite struck the post with an effort from the edge of the box, but that was as close as Lincoln got.

Etchimaite then saw red for a crunching tackle on Moya and the reaction which resulted in tempers flaring. Europa FC unused substitute Karim Pinero also saw red for his part in the incident.

Lincoln would receive a 3rd red card as Ryan Casciaro received a second yellow deep onto stoppage time.

3-0 on the night then and an impressive performance all round from Europa capped by the two strikes from 'Kike'.

It's European football next for these two clubs, Europa in the Champions League and Lincoln will fly the flag for Gibraltar, along with St Joseph's FC in the Europa League.
