A cold and wet night in the Danish capital, Copenhagen, was to see Gibraltar’s National Team go down 6-0 to a talented and hungry Danish side, looking to cement their position as Group D leaders, ahead of Monday’s final round of Euro 2020 Qualifying fixtures.
Julio Ribas stuck to his usual formation and line up, with Tjay DeBarr leading the line, supported by Lee Casciaro and Ethan Britto on the flanks, and Liam Walker as the most advanced of the central midfielders.
Denmark named their strongest starting XI with their much sought after number 10 Christian Eriksen ready to dictate the play and control the game.
Fresh from scoring his first ever international goal at the Victoria Stadium in the return fixture, Marbella born Danish number 7 Robert Skov opened the scoring after a ricochet in the Gibraltar box in the 12th minute.
But that was to be as good as it got for the home side in the first half. Goldwin made a great save to deny Gytkjær and on a heavy pitch at Parken Stadium it was 1-0 to the hosts at the break.
Gytkjær and Brathwaite with a goal a piece in the 47th and 51st minute before Skov scored his second in the 64th minute.
Denmark’s 5th was arguably the goal of the night. A fantastic turn and low drilled shot from Eriksen from outside the Gibraltar area gave Goldwin no chance. Eriksen then rounded off the scoring with lapsing on to an unfortunate mistake from Joseph Chipolina to make it 6-0 in the 3rd minute of stoppage time.
