With the last game of the first round of the Gibraltar National League concluding last night, the league now heads into its winter break. When the action resumes in January, the league will split into two groups.

The Top 6 teams, as per the current league table after 11 matches, will now play each other in two rounds of fixtures, and the team with the most points will become Gibraltar National League Champions. All points each team has gained in the first round of the league (pre Christmas) will count. The League Champions will qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League Qualifiers and the league runner up will enter the Europa League Qualifiers.

In the first round of the Gibraltar National League, Europa FC sat top of the table as unbeaten league leaders, winning 10 of their 11 fixtures including a notable 4-1 win over Lincoln Red Imps FC, their biggest domestic rivals of the modern era. Their only dropped points came in a 2-2 draw with St Joseph’s FC.

The Blue and Whites, fresh off their huge Europa League fixtures versus the historic Scottish side Glasgow Rangers, have also gone through their first 11 games unbeaten. St Joseph's  too inflicted defeat on Champions Lincoln Red Imps FC, with their only other dropped points coming in a 0-0 draw against Lynx FC.

For Champions Lincoln Red imps FC, nine wins and two defeats to both of their closest rivals in recent years has seen them head into the Christmas break in third place. The Champions have also just announced the departure of their Head Coach meaning they will go into the top six Championship stage of the Gibraltar National League with a new man in charge.

Perhaps the surprise outfit of the season so far have been Lynx FC. Albert Parody has guided his team to 7 wins out of their 11 matches and they sit comfortably in fourth place, 4 points behind Lincoln.

FCB Magpies and Lions Gibraltar FC are the other two teams who have made it into the top 6, with Lions beating FC Boca in ther last fixture to cement their position as the 6th placed team after the first Round.

Mons Calpe SC, Manchester 62 FC, FC Boca, Europa Point FC, Glacis United FC and College 1975 FC will contest the ‘Challenge Group’ of the Gibraltar National League with the winner taking home the inaugural Gibraltar National  Challenge Trophy.
