A group of four Gibraltarian friends recently set themselves a challenge of running 1860km during the month of June to raise as much money as possible for Calpe House.
Daniel Benitez, Andrew Yeats, James Noguera and St Joseph’s FC and Gibraltar International Goalkeeper Jamie Robba have been challenging the Gibraltarian community to come up with novel ideas and dares for them to complete, for donations to their go fund me page all in aid of raising funds for Calpe House, a facility used by many locals who unfortunately need medical treatment in the UK.
The Gibraltar FA challenged them to run with our footballers, male and female and the runners instantly accepted. 9km on the 9th of June was set.
In keeping with social distancing, the Calendar Club runners split into two to run with our national team players on the run, and on completion of the 9k challenge, the Gibraltar FA has pledged £1,000.00 to their cause.
At a presentation today, the Calendar Club runners were presented with commemorative personalised Gibraltar Training shirts by Gibraltar FA General Secretary Ivan Robba who commented:
"It has been an honour to be able to get involved with the Calendar Club in their fundraising efforts for what is such a worthy cause and especially one that provides such a comforting service to Gibraltarians who are undergoing medical treatment and care in London. With Jamie being a prominent local footballer and James, Daniel and Andrew also involved in the local sporting scene I feel it is only right that as part of our new approach to community engagement, that we gave them as much backing as possible in their efforts. We wish them all the best in their somewhat crazy month of running and hope the community at large gets behind them too!"
