Gibraltar’s Men’s National Team will be playing two international friendlies, at home, in the upcoming March international window as they begin their preparations for the League C of the UEFA Nations League later on this year.
In the first of the two International Friendlies at the Victoria Stadium, on the 23rd March, Gibraltar will host Grenada who will be the first international opposition the Men’s National team have faced from outside of Europe.
The Caribbean nation of Grenada are currently 168th in the FIFA World Rankings having been eliminated in the first round of CONCACAF’s Qatar 2022 World Cup Qualifiers winning just one of their four fixtures.
Canadian Michael Findlay has been Grenada’s Head Coach since January 2021 winning one and losing six of his seven internationals in charge of the “Spice Boys”.
Grenada qualified for the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2021, for the third time in their history, however as in their previous two appearances they failed to make it out of the group stages.
Three days later, on the 26th March 2022, the Faroe Islands return to the Victoria Stadium for the first time since 2014.
Like Gibraltar, the Faroe Islands were promoted into League C of the UEFA Nations League and currently sit 123rd in the FIFA World Rankings.
A draw away and a win at home against Moldova were the highlights of their Qatar 2022 World Cup Qualifying campaign which saw them pick up four points. A 5-1 win over Liechtenstein in Torshavn in a friendly in June was their other highlight of 2021.
Swedish Head Coach Hakan Ericson has been in charge since 2019 winning five and drawing four of his 25 games in charge.
Exact kick off times and ticketing information for both of Gibraltar’s March International Friendlies will be announced shortly.
