Gibraltar's Match Officials have held their Autumn workshop this week given that the league has now stopped for the November International Break.
The Workshop was held in two parts, part 1 consisting of analysis of match situations using examples from incidents that have taken place in the first three matchdays of the National League season.
In this Part 1 the aim was to encourage consistency through theoretical phases with audio visual support of video footage of National League matches presented by Referee Manager, Adrian Bacarisa.
Part 2 consisted of a phase of practice on the field of play with integrated exercises led by National Referee Fitness Coach David Mitchell.
David Mitchell stated: “ The main aim of practical pitch sessions is to simulate match play scenarios as close as possible. The drills are aimed to practice positional awareness to make informed match decisions whilst also improving specific match fitness requirements.“
Adrian Bacarisa, the Gibraltar FA's Referee Manager added, “We work on using international breaks to bring our referees and assistant referees together for technical instructions and work on consistency. Through the use of video footage of their own performances we work on minimising errors on the field of play getting our match officials better prepared for the challenging weeks ahead as teams compete to qualify for the Championship Group of the National League come the New Year.”
