The second in the Gibraltar FA's Collaboration Workshops between Referees and clubs took place this week in which constructive discussions were held on a range of matters.

Club Officials and representatives were given updates on the latest in the Gibraltar FA's Refereeing development programmes including:

  • Refereeing training and development events taking place this month;
  • Recent referee exchanges with Andorra and San Marino;
  • The continued partnership with PGMOL on Referee Observer Training.

Clubs were then presented with scenarios and the different considerations that need to be applied for the interpretation of the handball laws and appropriate disciplinary sanctions – Red & Yellow card offences which were supplimmented by video clips, analysis and explanations of match incidents in both the Gibraltar Fooball League and UEFA competitions.

Clubs were then asked to submit different specific match situations in recent GFL matches where the decision making processes by the match officials were explained and discussed openly.

The Gibraltar FA's Refereeing Manager, Adrian Bacarisa stated, after the workshop:

"We are delighted with the second of our Club Collaboration workshops. It has been another successful workshop with constructive discussions as club representatives and the Gibraltar FA's Referee Dept work together ensure continuous development and improvement."
