With most enjoying their summer break from football, the GFA staff have been preparing for the new season by attending a UEFA Grassroots Conference in Minsk-Belarus.
Desi Curry (Technical Director) Leslie Asquez (Grassroots Manager) and Laura McGinn (Women’s Football Manager) were sharing ideas and experiences with delegationsd the other 54 UEFA Members' Grassroots teams.
The workshop specifically dealt with 3 areas of expertise: Schools football, Club Development and Coach Education.
Various speakers both from UEFA and around the world, delivered policy documents and new initiatives such as ‘I Coach kids’ (https://www.icoachkids.eu/)
Desi Curry commented:
"It was great to meet with and share information with all our UEFA colleagues. The encouraging thing for me was that the work that the GFA are doing is completely in line with UEFA policy and the new initiatives discussed are definitely worth considering for the seasons to come. We will certainly look forward to developing further our Schools programme and our Coach Education and Club Development ideas with all our partners on the ‘Rock’. "
